Conformance to W3C Specifications

This section of the documentation describes the extent of conformance of Saxon-CE to the W3C XSLT 2.0 and related specifications.

Strict conformance to standards has always been a high priority in the development of Saxon. At the same time, Saxon has always innovated in the development of conformant extensions which have often subsequently been copied in other products and have eventually found their way into the standard. Since Saxon-CE is working in a highly specialized environment, some extensions are needed to take advantage of the facilities available. Wherever possible, these have been implemented using the extensibility features provided in the W3C language specification.
